New album and the second life of No Pavarotti

No Pavarotti were formed in the autumn of 2009 from the remains of the band The Ruin of Ruins. The birth of the duo was an unlikely meeting of two seemingly incompatible characters: Jan Klamm, with a programmatically anti-musical approach to music-making, who found interest in hints of music in noise, and Luboš Rezek, a song composer and performer, who took a liking to exploring the noise behind music. Klamm and Rezek described their work as improvised pop and accompanied their recordings with texts that revelled in genre mystification and creation of a fictional model listener.

Between 2009 and 2013, No Pavarotti released five official recordings (the mini CD-R Fat Pink Mouse in Graceland / Un Giorno Perfetto, CD-R No Pavarotti, CD-R Too Late to Care, cassette Out of the Dark, LP Season of the Weak and a split cassette with Klang-und-Krach Collektiv Sea Cow Blues / One-Legged Fun) and one non-public mini CD-R "PF 2010" (with cover versions of songs by Johnny Thunders, Syd Barrett, Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra and Rowland S. Howard) and played nearly sixty concerts in eight European countries.

The release of Season of the Weak (Klang-und-Krach / Letmo Productions) in February 2013 was followed by a hectic concert activity. That resulted in fatigue which led to a hiatus, eventually stretching to eleven years. No Pavarotti never officially broke up, their appetite for regular touring and recording, however, was absent. A few attempts at a comeback did take place, but the situation finally changed in the autumn of 2023, when Klamm and Rezek played an unplanned set during Prague Headphone Festival after one of the performers failed to show up.

In April 2024, No Pavarotti again played to a headphone audience, this time in Ostrava's Fiducia. Four jam sessions followed later in the year, during which the duo rediscovered the energy that had contributed to the group's formation eleven years earlier. The recordings from these four sessions were compiled into an album called II, which is available on cassette and as digital download on Bandcamp profiles of No Pavarotti and Klang-und-Krach. It was first introduced on December 18, 2024 at Art brut gallery in Prague, next up are concerts in January 2025 - January 18 at Futureum in Ostrava and a day later at Rello in Brno.
